Editorial Policy & Research Methodology
Last updated: 26 February 2026
Fields Research is committed to providing accurate, data-driven property market intelligence for the Gold Coast residential market. This editorial policy explains how our articles are produced, who writes them, and how we use data and technology in our research.
Authorship & Bylines
Every article published by Fields Research carries a named byline. We use two bylines:
- Will Simpson — Lead Analyst. Writes original market analysis, economic commentary, state-of-market reports, and buyer/seller strategy articles. All analytical conclusions and professional judgements in articles under this byline are Will Simpson's own.
- Fields Editorial — Research & Editorial Team. Produces data-compiled property reports (Watch This Sale, How It Sold), major project briefings, and other research outputs where multiple contributors are involved. This is an organisational byline, not a pseudonym.
We do not publish anonymous content. Author profile pages are available at fieldsestate.com.au/about/will-simpson and fieldsestate.com.au/about/fields-editorial.
Use of AI & Automated Tools
Some Fields Research articles use AI-assisted drafting to structure and present data from our proprietary property database. In all cases, the data selection, analytical framework, interpretation of results, and editorial conclusions are provided by our named human authors. AI tools are used as a writing aid, not as a substitute for human editorial judgement.
Specifically:
- All market data, transaction records, and statistical analysis are drawn from Fields' proprietary Gold Coast property database and official sources (ABS, RBA)
- The choice of which data to present, how to interpret it, and what conclusions to draw is made by the named author
- AI tools assist with prose structure and language; they do not determine analytical outcomes
- All published articles are reviewed and approved by the named author before publication
This approach complies with Google News' April 2025 policy: AI-assisted content is acceptable where there is genuine human editorial input and original analysis. Our bylined authors provide that input.
Research Methodology
1. Data Collection
We draw from multiple authoritative sources:
- Fields Property Database: Proprietary database of Gold Coast property transactions, including sale prices, property characteristics, days on market, and valuation data
- Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS): Official data on employment, wages, population, and economic indicators
- Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA): Interest rate decisions, monetary policy statements, and economic forecasts
- Queensland Government: Property transaction records and planning data
2. Statistical Analysis
We employ rigorous statistical methods to identify genuine market patterns:
- Correlation Analysis: Correlation coefficients (r-values) measure the strength of relationships between economic variables and property prices
- Time-Series Analysis: Tracking trends over time to identify momentum, seasonality, and structural shifts
- Comparative Analysis: Comparing suburbs, property types, and time periods to identify relative value and market dynamics
3. Quality Control
Before publication, every article undergoes:
- Data Verification: All statistics are cross-referenced against source data
- Methodology Review: Analysis methods are reviewed for statistical validity
- Fact-Checking: Claims are verified against multiple sources where possible
- Author Sign-off: The named byline author reviews and approves the final article
Corrections Policy
We are committed to correcting errors promptly:
- Minor Errors (typos, formatting): Corrected immediately without notice
- Factual Errors (incorrect statistics, misattributed quotes): Corrected with a note stating what was changed and when
- Significant Errors (flawed analysis, misleading conclusions): Article may be substantially revised or retracted with a prominent correction notice

Fields Research maintains full editorial independence. We are not affiliated with any real estate agency, property developer, or financial institution. We do not accept payment for coverage or favourable analysis. Our analysis is based solely on data and professional judgement. We disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
Writing Standards
- British English: We use British/Australian spelling and grammar throughout
- Professional Tone: Clear, analytical prose in the style of specialist financial and economic journalism
- Evidence-Based: Claims are supported by data and analysis, not speculation
- Source Transparency: Data sources are cited; methodology is explained in plain English
